Former NBA All-star Antoine Walker re-signs with Idaho Stampede for the next season: NBA News
Twelve year NBA veteran Antoine Walker has re-signed with the D-League side Idaho Stampeded for the 2011-2012 season. The former All-Star will report to the Stampede’s training camp which starts from 14th November.
In the previous season, the 35-year-old Walker played 43 games in Idaho Stampede’s uniform and registered an average of 16.0 points, 6.3 boards and 3.4 assists per game in less than 34 minutes of playing time.
Antoine Walker was very excited on having the opportunity to play with the D-league team once again next season and hoped to help the team achieve what they were unable to achieve in the last season - a championship title.
“I can’t wait to get back to Boise. It’s a great place to live and I’m hoping I can help this team make the playoffs and win a championship – we’ve got some unfinished business to tend to.” Walker said.
Antoine Walker has been a dynamic player throughout his college and NBA career. After attending Mount Carmel High School from where he started his basketball career, Walker earned a full scholarship at the University of Kentucky Wildcats to play for Rick Pitino.  As a freshman, Antoine was named as the SEC Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP). In the sophomore year, Walker continued to impress with his talent and as a result he was inducted in the All-NCAA Regional Team, All-Sec First and All-Sec Tournament Teams.
In 1996, after the end of his sophomore year, Walker declared himself for the NBA draft and was picked by the Boston Celtics as the sixth overall pick.
In the rookie season, Antoine Walker led the Celtics in scoring with 17.5 points per game and clutched 9.0 rebounds which earned him a spot in the All-Rookie 1st team. Walker played seven seasons in the Celtics uniform and was voted an All-Star three times before talking his talents to Dallas Mavericks in 2003-2004.
In August 2005, Antoine came back to Boston Celtics only to be a part of a massive 5-team, 13-player deal which is the largest trade in the history of the league till fate. The deal sent Antoine to Miami Heat and it was there he accomplished his biggest dream of becoming an NBA Champion.
Antoine Walker last played in NBA for the Memphis Grizzlies in 2008 when he appeared in two preseason games only and remained inactive in the opening months of the regular season. Walker was consequently waived off by the Grizzlies and he joined Idaho Stampede of NBA Development League in 2010.
