Former NBA player Charlie Ward happy about his life after retirement
The former professional basketball player Charlie Ward seems very happy about his life after retirement from the game. Although, he was a professional basketball player in the past, but most recently he is coaching a high school
football team.
Recently, Ward in an interview reflected his life after retirement from NBA. He also described in detail how he always wanted to become a professional football player and since he has received a golden opportunity from a local
high school to be their football coach, he is overjoyed.
Ward had spent almost 11 years in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and retired in 2005. The most interesting part of his life is that he was one of the best all-round athletes in recent history of America. He was not only
a very good player of basketball, but he played two other famous sports in the United State of America (USA). He played American Football and Baseball in his youth.
His early brilliance as a young Football player was also appreciated when he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
Charlie Ward, who won the Heisman Trophy in his college days, is now reaping the benefits of wining this precious award as an amateur football player. He is now heading the football coaching job of Westbury Christian School after
he decided to start his career in the football world instead in the NBA. Though, he also coached the basketball to the varsity boys’ basketball team in the Westbury Christian School in Houston, Texas but opted for football coaching in November 2007.
Charlie Ward explained in detail about his choices at different stages of his career and what impact he had been receiving from those choices. He said in,
“They all go hand-in-hand when it comes to being a leader; I had the ball in my hand a lot. And when you’re in that position, the choices and decisions have to be good ones in order for the team to be successful. I wanted to have
a more hands-on experience, I wanted the chance to put game plans together, implement those game plans, and really mentor kids. Those are the main reasons I am where I am today. That’s my focus.”
Although, Ward’s decision of coaching a high school football team over pursuing a career in his previous profession seems irrelevant, but somehow it makes sense too as one should always pursue a career in which he finds himself
most comfortable.
