Former NBA star Jalen Rose to be sentenced for DUI: NBA Update
The former National Basketball Association (NBA) star Jalen Rose is to be sentenced for Driving under Influence (DUI). He will face 93 days at maximum in jail with a $500 fine for pleading guilty to drive a car in intoxicated condition.
Judge Kimberly will announce his sentence. Jalen was arrested by the police on March 11, 2011 after he lost control over his vehicle in West Bloomfield Township Michigan at 2am in the morning and had a minor accident on a snowy road.
Jalen Rose admitted in the court as he was excessively drunk on that particular night. The accident, in which he had crashed his car into a female driver, was minor as no one injured. However, the on duty officer immediately suspected
him of intoxication and asked him for an alcohol test. Rose refused the breath test and was eventually taken to the hospital where his blood sample was tested for the alcohol level.
The blood tests eventually turned out to be positive and indicated the high levels of alcohol in his blood. The Michigan State’s alcohol limit in blood is 0.08 while his blood samples came out with 0.088. However, Rose remained
defiant and said, “Although I was not feeling impaired, the results of these tests indicate that my blood alcohol level was above the legal limit.”
After he was brought to the court, he told the true story to Judge Kimberly. He stated in-front of Judge, “I'm embarrassed to say I had six drinks that evening.” Judge Kimberly also asked him as how big his drinks were when he
was arrested on that particular night in West Bloomfield Township Michigan? Rose replied and said, “I'm embarrassed to say probably too big."
Jalen Rose had a very good career at the NBA. Before he made his way into the league he had performed wonderfully with the University of Michigan. He helped his University to compete two times for the titles games in the National
Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in 1992 and 1993.
Jalen Rose spent 13 years in the league and played consistently throughout his career. The Denver Nuggets were the first team who drafted him and brought into the NBA. He played two years with them and then in 1996, he joined the
Indiana Pacers. Overall Rose played for six different teams in the league. Currently he is working with a sports channel as a basketball analyst.
