Former National Hockey League goaltender Jamie McLennon become a TV analyst
Former National Hockey League (NHL) goaltender Jamie McLennon, who played for six teams in the league, has joined a TV Network as an analyst for the ice hockey games after ending his playing career.
McLennon grew up in Edmonton and watched the brilliant players and hockey heroes like Wayne Gretzky, Grant Fuhr, Mark Messier and many more which helped the team win 5 Stanley Cup trophies and the young Jamie developed his interest in hockey because of that.
After playing such a long hockey career, now he wants to enjoy the game watching it and analyzing it, being neutral and giving his expert opinions. According to him, he could have become a coach but a coach has to be with a team and feels disappointment
when his team loses and has a lot of burden, which he wanted that feeling by becoming an analyst, as he said,
"When you’re in a dressing room and you retire and you head into coaching, you’re still friends with a lot of the guys in the room and you kinda have to draw a line. I didn’t have problems with it, but when times were tough and you lose some games, your
emotions get the best of you. It was challenging, but I loved it. The closest thing to being on the team was coaching the team."
The 6-foot-0, 205 pounder would be seen in the shows NHL in the fly and NHL Tonight. He praised the networks and feels that it is a great job, which he would love to do as there are a lot of great people who are already working. He added,
"There’s a lot of work that goes into it, but it’s an amazing process and there’s a lot of great people at the NHL Network."
The Edmonton, Alberta born player was drafted in 1991 NHL draft by New York Islanders and made his NHL debut for them in 1993-1994 season. He played for Minnesota Wild, Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers and Florida Panthers in the league
but he was just a part time goalie as he played just 254 games in his 10 year NHL career.
