Former New England Patriots’ Rodney Harrison unhappy with Rob Gronkowski over celebrations – NFL News Update
Former New England Patriots’ player, Rodney Harrison has hit out on tight end, Rob Gronkowski for post Super Bowl party saying that it was not the correct way to behave after a Super Bowl loss.
The former Patriots’ tight end was surprised over the way Gronkowski and offensive lineman, Matt Light behaved.
A video had appeared showing Gronkowski dancing at a party held by the Patriots after the Super Bowl game.
Talking to ESPN Network, Harrison lashed out at Gronkowski saying he had “disrespected himself” by dancing and taking off his shirt.
The video showing Gronkowski dancing has not been easily taken in several quarters and among the Patriots’ fans.
Light had also been photographed with his shirt off.
Harrison referring to himself said that when he lost a Super Bowl event he was so “devastated” that the last thing he would want to do was dance or party. He termed Gronkowski’s act as being “immature.”
Harrison in his earlier days as a football player had lost the Super Bowl event two times. One was with the San Diego Chargers in 1995 and once with the Patriots in 2008.
"It's just immaturity. It's not right. He made a mistake and I'm sure he feels absolutely stupid about it at this point. There's a time and place for everything." Harrison said.
Harrison sounded pretty tough and full of anger saying out a few harsh things at the tight end.
"I guarantee you this, if Willie McGinest, Tedy Bruschi, Larry Izzo, Richard Seymour or myself had been at that party, (he) probably would have got his head rung," Harrison said.
Gronkowski had remained hot in the news in the week leading to the Super Bowl game over his ankle injury that had continued to cause concern among the Patriots. Gronkowski though however played in the Super Bowl game with a walking boot.
Harrison pointed out that the Patriots needed to explain Gronkowski that it was “inappropriate” and not the correct time to celebrate. However, Harrison did agree that Gronkowski was “unselfish” and a hard working player but had made a mistake.
“I like this kid. I think he's a good kid, works hard, is unselfish. But he made a mistake." Harrison said.
Harrison had earlier on defended Patriots’ quarterback, Tom Brady saying he should not get the blame for the Super Bowl loss. Harrison had pointed out to the missed passes noting that the Patriots had opportunities but had missed them.
