Former New England Patriots’ player, Rodney Harrison defends Tom Brady – NFL News Update
As the New England Patriots are trying to accustom to the Super Bowl defeat sustained at the hands of the New England Patriots, former Patriots’ safety Rodney Harrison has come forward to support quarterback, Tom Brady.
Harrison is one of those who feels that Brady should not get the blame for the Super Bowl loss.
Harrison defended Brady saying he had played his part well and noted that some passes had been Patriots players.
“I don’t think it’s fair. I think it ultimately comes down to ‘team.’ A lot of times, quarterbacks, as well as coaches, they get too much credit sometimes. But I don’t think Tom should take the heat. He had opportunities to make some plays, and he did.
Some guys dropped some balls, that’s all part of football. They had opportunities.” Harrison said.
“But I think it’s just the media’s way of saying, ‘Finally, we get a chance to say something negative about him. Finally, we get a chance to torch him.” Harrison said.
Brady has been an asset for the Patriots ever since he joined them in 2000. This season proved to be the best in his career as he went for 5,235 yards and scored 39 touchdowns.
It is quite evident that Brady will not be taking any heat for the Patriots failure in the Super Bowl and would still continue as the most favourite Patriots’ player.
While the team has stayed away from pinpointing anyone for the Super Bowl loss, Brady’s wife, Gisele Bundchen recently while speaking to her friends in response to heckling by Giants’ fans in Lucas Oil Stadium pointed fingers at the Patriots’ receivers for
the Super Bowl loss. She defended her husband saying he could not possibly throw a pass and then catch it the same time while pointing towards the missed passes.
Though it is not certain that she would have said such a thing publicly but her comments were caught on camera and subsequently became public. However, the comments did not attract much controversy as the Patriots spokesman stayed away from commenting on
her comments even though Patriots’ safety, James Ihedigbo jumped in to defend his team mates. Ihedigbo said the team won and lost as a whole and pointed out the contributions that Wes Welker had made in leading the team to the Super Bowl.
Overall the situation seems as if the Patriots would likely stay away from the blame game and keep focus on staying together as a team.
