Former Olympique Lyonnais coach Claude Puel wants seven million Euros as compensation – Ligue 1 news
Recently fired Olympique Lyonnais coach, Claude Puel is seeking more that the amount that was provided to him by the Lyon management following the Frenchman’s sacking.
Claude Puel was fired from his position as head coach of Les Gones last month and the fired coach is now demanding seven million Euros from the club as compensation.
Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 reveal that Claude Puel is not satisfied by the three million Euros he was given by Lyonnais following his dismissal and the former coach’s attorney is now looking to register a case against Lyon if Puel’s demands are not met.
According to radio Hit and Sport, Lyon, Claude Puel is looking for compensation that amounts for the salary of the final year of his contract plus bonuses (possible bonuses) and a severance pay. While talking to the media, Puel’s attorney said, “The time
has expired and we are now working on the amounts that we will claim officially on Monday.”
According to reports, Puel’s attorney will register the case at Labour Court for a hearing on Wednesday (6th June, 2011).
The recent payment issue has come at the worst possible moment for Lyonnais. With the club already under a lot of debt and also looking to spend some money on the transfer window, Jean-Michel Aulas would rather avoid the scenario of having to pay seven million
Euros on front to the manager he appointed three years ago.
Lyon received 10 million Euros from Malaga for the departure of Jeremy Toulalan and most of that amount might be served to pay for the amount that Puel is claiming – given if the Labour Court gives a decision in the favour of the former Lyon manager.
Claude Puel’s era at Lyon would be remembered as the demise of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 as the club failed to win any trophy under the guidance of the former AS Monaco coach. After three years in charge of the club, Claude Puel was sacked by club president Jean-Michel
Aulas and Remi Garde was brought in as a replacement.
With a week to go till the trial begins, Lyon have their work cut short as they look to resolve the payment issue as soon as they can.
