Pierre Sinibaldi, the man who scored 33 goals for Stade de Reims in the 1946-47 Ligue 1 season, died this Tuesday in Toulon. He was 87-years-old. Sinibaldi during his playing days, was considered as one of the best strikers in France and won the Ligue 1
Championelle twice with Stade de Reims in 1949 and 1953.

Following his retirement in 1956, Sinibaldi was named the coach of Football club Perpignan whom he coached for three seasons. In 1960, he was named the coach of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luxembourg-c2945 national side, a move that didn’t really work out for either party.
Soon, the tall striker was named the new coach of Anderlecht and that was where he started making a name for himself. He helped the Belgian giants to a domestic title in 1962, 1964, 1965 and 1966. He also led Anderlecht to a domestic cup in 1965.
Another highlight of his managerial career was when he guided the Belgian side to the final of the Cities Fair Cup against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in 1970. His side lost that game 3-0 at home but did manage to beat the Gunners on their own turf (3-1).
Sinibaldi also managed the AS Monaco and La Liga side, Real Sporting de Gijon.
As a player, Sinibaldi won the Ligue 1 with Stade de Reims twice and also won the Coupe de France in 1950. He scored 115 goals in 189 games in Ligue 1 during his career, a statistic that makes him one of the most productive and efficient strikers in the
history of Ligue 1. Though he made just two appearances for France, Sinibaldi is widely considered as one of the best strikers French football has ever produced.
The death of Sinibaldi means that French football has lost one of its greatest treasures.
