Former Pakistani cricketers urge BCCI and ICC to probe Vinod Kambli’s claims – Cricket News
Former Pakistani cricketers have asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vinod-Ganpat-Kambli-c95376.
"Kambli today has come out in the open because now, after our three players were jailed by a court, there is renewed confidence that people responsible for fixing and corruption can be punished,” said former Pakistani wicket-keeper
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rashid-Latif-c84084.
Kambli, mad the allegations few days ago while participating in a debate on a news channel, and claimed that the 1996 World Cup semi-final between Indian and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 might have been fixed.
His allegations were dismissed by many of the Indian cricketers and also by the ICC President, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sharadchandra-Govindrao-Pawar-c89751.
The former skipper added that the reaction from the Indian board and Pawar showed the other boards were not ready to face that their players could have been involved in corruption and this practice was not limited to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 only.
“In the past, different boards and authorities have tried to play down this serious problem and brush it under the match, that is why no cricketer had the confidence to come out if he knew something or suspected something," Latif
said.
In the same way, another former Pakistani skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625. He said that though Vinod’s allegations were dubious but were quite serious and should not be ignored.
"How can the BCCI say it will not investigate the matter, and even Pawar is now ICC president and should be clear about his priorities," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 said.
Another Pakistani cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Iqbal-Qasim-c76980, said that the way the BCCI and ICC tried ignoring Kambli’s allegations have shown their bias.
Recently, three of the Pakistani cricketers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675 were sentenced to imprisonment by Southwark Crown Court London, for their involvement in spot-fixing. Earlier this year, ICC also handed lengthy
bans to the trio for deliberately throwing no-balls in the fourth Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 at Lord’s.
However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken several steps to root out corruption from the country’ cricket.
