Former Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi wants New York Jets QB Tim Tebow to curtail talks with media
New York Jets quarterback, Tim Tebow has become a media darling ever since he arrived on the scene at the Denver Broncos.
The quarterback has gained the interest of the public and the media thanks to his public displays of religiosity as well as his penchant to win games at the death.
After being traded by the Broncos to the Jets this offseason, the quarterback had a huge press pack taking part in his introductory press conference which is unprecedented even for a starter much less a backup quarterback.
This much attention by the media have led some analysts to characterise Tebow as bringing in a circus to whichever franchise he joins.
Former New England Patriots linebacker, Tedy Bruschi, is one of those and believes that the quarterback should curtail his communication with the media since it leads to problems in the dressing room.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN Bruschi said.
"Stop talking to the media so much,"
Adding further he said.
"You need to disappear, okay, Tim Tebow? You're not the starting quarterback, it's Mark Sanchez's team. I want my voice to come from my head coach and my quarterback -- my starting quarterback. That message has to be consistent.”
He also went on to say that two quarterbacks talking to the press sends a wrong message and only Sanchez should be allowed to talk with the press.
"I don't want all this competition brewing, and every time you speak and anytime you talk about competition or anything like that, you're twisting things. I want one voice. One quarterback, not two."
Such criticism seems very harsh since it is not the backup quarterback who looks to talk to the media but rather it is the reporters who hound Tebow after every Jets organised team activity (OTAs) to get his views.
The quarterback has always been under the media spotlight ever since he led the Denver Broncos to the American Football Conference (AFC) West division Championship last year and into the playoffs divisional round.
His arrival at the Jets has increased the media spotlight ten-fold and Bruschi’s comments will have no effect on the reporters who will continue to look to get some sound bites from Tebow.
