Former Philadelphia Eagles’ QB Vince Young not giving names of teams interested in him – NFL News
Former Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback, Vince Young, who is now a free agent, has explored different opportunities in the National Football League (NFL) open market and he has attracted interest of a few teams as well, but the player is not up for giving
the names of those teams at the moment.
When asked about his future plans, he said a couple of teams have shown great interest in his signing, but he refrained from giving the names and said that his agent should be contacted to get more details around this development.
He said:
“I can’t give you the teams now. Call (my agent) Tom Condon and he’ll tell you which teams are interested, but I have a couple of teams that have some good interest in me.”
Young started his professional NFL career in 2006 with Tennessee Titans. He was impressive right from the start, but had to deal with a few disciplinary issues, which eventually became the reasons for his departure from Tennessee.
In Young’s second professional season, Titans’ then head coach, Jeff Fisher, benched him for one game, apparently for violating the team’s disciplinary rule.
In the next season, he suffered an injury and was sidelined for the complete season. He did not get the starting role early in the next season after recovering from the injury and Fisher said that he would have to earn his job again.
However, he did that and began playing as starter again, but his terms with the management received a hit in 2010 season, which proved to be his last with the team.
During a game against the Washington Redskins, he was forced out with an injury, but was prepared to take the field again after some time. However, Fisher decided against introducing him again, which made the player angry.
He was involved in an altercation with Fisher after the game, promoting the ownership to release him.
After being released, he joined Philadelphia Eagles and started playing as a backup for Michael Vick.
However, Eagles also released him after one year, apparently because coach, Andy Reid, thought Young deserves to be a starter. Young said of his discussion with Vick:
"One of the biggest things there was I asked Andy (Reid), 'Could I be part of the team again?. He was like, 'I would love for you to stay here, but you're not a backup quarterback,' so when I heard the big guy, big red, say that, it showed me more confidence
and more respect that he had for me."
