Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski has high expectations of Michael Vick – NFL News
After not starting the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season in an impressive manner the Philadelphia Eagles surged to perform amazingly well in their last four games.
Although they could not qualify for the playoffs, they had done enough to combine and perform well as a unit and the performance of their quarterback Michael Vick was also outstanding in the last four games.
According to former Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski, those four games have set the tone for an impressive season in 2012 for Vick.
He believes that Vick is a very talented player who can lead the team to the playoffs in the upcoming season. According to the details present on the team’s official website, Jaworski said of Vick:
"Vick has shown he is capable of throwing the ball exceptionally well from the pocket. His overall throwing skillset can be top five in the league. His objective in 2012 must be to play that way more often."
However, Jaworski also highlighted some of Vick’s flaws and said that he should focus more on throwing the ball rather than keeping it and rushing.
Recalling Vick’s last season’s performance, Jaworski said:
“I charted all of Vick's snaps last season. He was taken to the ground more than 11 times per game. You can't play 16 games that way. Vick always reminds me of something my former coach d**k Vermeil says: 'The problem with quarterbacks who can run is they run!’"
Vick and the Eagles have been criticised many times for not performing up to the expectations. Despite having a strong squad, their performance is unable to make any lasting impact and the 2011 season was its prime example.
Eagles had one of the best units in the league last year, but they were even unable to qualify for the playoffs.
Nevertheless, Eagles have once again set high standards after introducing some changes in their squad during this offseason.
They have added a couple of new players to strengthen their defence and Vick has also realised his flaws while vowing to improve his performance.
If Vick plays up to his potential and the players around him give the quarterback the due support, Eagles can easily enter the playoffs this time.
