Former Portsmouth midfielder Chris Kamara rates Andy Carroll as a complete centre forward: EPL News
Sky Sports pundit and former Portsmouth midfielder, Chris Kamara has heaped praise on Liverpool striker, Andy Carroll, for his wonderful performance against Manchester City on Monday, 11th April, 2011.
Carroll scored a brace in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s 3-0 win over the Citizens at Anfield. Kamara believes that his performance on Monday has once again highlighted the fact that he is a complete centre forward.
Carroll was signed as a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 in January, 2011 and was forced to miss the early months of his Reds career through injury. It did not take him long to score his first goal for the new club as he scored it in his sixth appearance.
Kamara said that the former Newcastle United striker has everything what a top-class centre-forward should have. He is strong, quick, tall and brave and with all these attributes he is likely to have a bright future ahead of him.
He went on to hail his partnership with Liverpool’s other new signing, Luis Suarez. He believes that the duo can form the most dangerous strike force in the Premier League next season.
Kamara told skysports.com, “He's erased the memory of Fernando Torres from Liverpool Football Club, which is amazing because the Spaniard was adored there. The jury was out on Carroll and his £35million price tag, but in one night he has become the darling
of the Kop.”
He went on to add, “They can now see him forming a partnership with Luis Suarez, which could get even better when Gerrard comes back into the midfield. He won acceptance on Monday night and that was a big hurdle to get over. He looked like the ultimate centre-forward
against City.”
He added that Liverpool will benefit from the sale of Fernando Torres and he believes that the Spaniard’s body language was telling that he was not enjoying his time at the club.
The win cuts short Liverpool’s deficit with fourth placed Manchester City to eight points and if they continue playing like they did against City, they might end up winning a UEFA Champions League place for next season.
