Paulo Futre, the former Portugal winger, wants Atletico Madrid to act on their interest and secure the services of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186’s star striker, Radamel Falcao, in the upcoming weeks.
Futre believes that Falcao is a different player from Sergio Aguero and has advised the Mattress-Makers to up their interest in Colombian striker and purchase him as a replacement for the Argentine.
Aguero left the Vicente Calderon recently and completed a €35.6 million move to Manchester City in the summer. Being a pivotal player for Los Colchoneros, the club suffered a major blow with his departure.
However, Atletico received significant amount as transfer money and on the hunt for his replacement. Radamel Falcao is thought to be the club’s ideal target and the officials have hinted that they will try to land the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/River-Plate-c40368 attacker.
Speaking to reporters, the Madrid-based side’s president, Enrique Cerezo, confirmed that they were on the trail of the 25-year-old and were looking to negotiate with Porto for his signature.
"Falcao is an objective of ours," "What I can say is that Atletico Madrid want a great player and Falcao is a great player.
"Right now, we are trying to sign a great player, a marquee signing but "€45m is still a lot of money,” he said.
With the Spanish outfit confirming rumours that they were looking to bolster their ranks with Falcao’s talents, the only problem remaining is the hefty transfer fee required to lure him away from Estadio do Dragao.
Scoring a whopping 38 goals last season, the Dragons were keen to extend the contract of their prized asset and convinced him to pen down a new deal that not only ensured his stay but also took up his buyout clause to €45 million.
The upgraded price-tag is thought to be out of Atletico’s budget and has pushed Falcao further away from a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, despite the club’s efforts to keep the transfer alive and offer a player-plus-cash deal.
However, Paulo Futre believes that Los Rojiblancos can still land their man and has urged them to move in and act on their interest.
"Falcao had an excellent season and is an incredible player who would fit in really well at Atletico.” He said.
While the Coffee Growers International is touted as the man-for-man substitute for Sergio Aguero, Futre believes that the South American players are quite different and bring their own sense of play into the game.
“But Aguero and Falcao are different players. Falcao plays more in the area, like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-c16384 Sanchez, with a great sense for goal,” he explained.
Although Atletico Madrid are not the greatest spenders in the transfer market, they will have to buy a marquee signing if they intend to curb the loss of their inspirational forward and combat teams in La Liga next season.
