Former Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster rates Barcelona midfield best in the world
Former Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster believes that Barcelona have better midfield players than the Los Blancos.
Schuster has played for both Barcelona and Real Madrid during his playing career and also managed Madrid in the 2007-08 season.
The 51-year-old is eagerly awaiting the upcoming El Clasico on Saturday, 16 April, 2011. The current Besiktas manager believes that the game will be very important for Real Madrid to lift their chances of winning the La Liga title. Madrid are placed second
on the League table and drift the leaders Barcelona by 8 points.
Schuster added that the likes of Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Busquets-c33048 make the Catalan giants a formidable force and it is the best midfield in the world these days.
Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid 5-0 at the Camp Nou in the reverse fixture of the ongoing campaign in November 2010. It is highly likely that both teams will play four games against each other in the next 18 days, as after this fixture, the two teams will
play in the Copa del Rey final.
Both teams have comprehensively won their respective first leg ties of the quarter-finals of the Champions League and have strengthened their positions to lock horns in the semi-finals of the competition.
Schuster told media, “Everyone knows that the season will be decided in the upcoming two weeks. This Saturday's match will be more important for Real Madrid than for Barcelona. If Barca loses, there won't be too much of a problem as they're still five points
clear.”
“I believe that Madrid have what it takes to beat Barcelona over one match, but I can't see them doing it over two games. Real are Barcelona’s biggest rivals both in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and in Europe,” he added.
The former Levante boss added that both teams are a formidable unit and it is very difficult to pick out a winner from the two sides.
Barcelona will take on Shakhtar Donetsk for their second leg fixture on Tuesday, 12 April, 2011, whereas Madrid will travel to White Hart Lane for their second leg tie the next day.
