Former Redskins Donovan McNabb rules out QB Peyton Manning's signing by Washington - NFL News
It might be rare for a quarterback but Minnesota Vikings’ Donovan McNabb has come with a unique piece advice for the Washington Redskins that Indianapolis Colts’ QB, Peyton Manning, is not a right for them.
No word from Redskins yet how seriously they have taken the advice, but the player went on to claim that they will no way sign Manning if he becomes available in the market.
Redskins are amongst Peyton Manning’s potential hopefuls waiting the player’s possible cut by Colts, and have refused to rule out the possibility of targeting him off the free agency.
McNabb, himself former Redskins, has concluded that Peyton Manning would not be a match for Redskins and the team was least likely to have him on the board.
He said:
"Peyton’s not gonna go there. I don’t see Peyton ending up in Washington. Because what happens is now, you’re bringing in another veteran who will be 35, 36, who has been in one offense throughout his career. It’s the same situation.”
The quarterback added:
"Now he comes over, and as they say now, Peyton is such an offensive coordinator on the offense. So now what does that do to your offensive coordinator? Does he step down? Does he step back? Well, I didn’t see that happen, so I definitely don’t see that
happening for Peyton."
Interestingly, it would be rather unfortunate for Redskins not to sign the only four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) to their roster, than Manning.
The player has too many potential buyers ready for stake in their chance on the opportunity and it will be a matter of time that he finds another destination if Colts decide against retaining him.
Peyton is due a payment of $28 million bonus by March 08, 2012, while trade deadline is March 13, 2012, and if Colts do not come with a solution to the player’s future, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
At the moment, the stakeholders of the matter are said to be talking to each other to find a solution that is acceptable to both of them.
Only factor that might make Indianapolis Colts take their chances on the player is his confirmation of the recovery from a neck surgery to previous health and fitness, and if the player proves that he, as per his desire, will be Colts in the longer run.
In case that Colts are not satisfied with health and fitness of the player, they have an option of negotiating a delay in the bonus payment date of March 13.
That will be an equally workable solution for the player, and he has said to be flexible on the deadline and willing to negotiate an extension into it.
All the teams interested in him are closely watching all those developments and ready to jump on the opportunity if and when it comes by.
