Former San Jose Sharks player, Dany Heatley, hopes for major impact with new team, Minnesota Wild

Dany Heatley might only be a 30-year-old player, but he surely one of the highest ranked shooters throughout the National Hockey League (NHL).
His recent signing with Minnesota Wild, after playing two seasons with San Jose Sharks, will give him a stand-out opportunity next season, something he would have been definitely hoping for.
Playing for San Jose Sharks, Heatley was hands-down, one of the most competent players on the roster, but he did not stand out with all the other talent in the franchise's line-up.
His going to Minnesota, a club that has been yearning for a high paced shooter like him, is his chance of breaking out of the crowd and emerging as a team leader.
"I think as a goal scorer and a player, you want to be that guy", Heatley said on Sunday after being traded. "I'm excited to be in Minny; I've got a lot of ties to Minny. I obviously went to school in Madison and have a lot of friends in Minny. I'm excited
to be that guy, for sure".
Heatley was traded by San Jose for Minnesota’s player, Martin Havlat, who was also a great shooter, but was having a hard time with Minnesota Wild.
The German native of Freiburg was drafted in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft as second overall by Atlanta Thrashers and spent three seasons with Thrashers until being traded to Ottawa Senators and than finally ending up with San Jose Sharks.
Heatley has had 100 plus point seasons with Ottawa and has not been slacking in form since then.
Last season, Heatley posted 64 points with 26 goals and 38 assists, and 82 points with 39 goals and 43 assists, in the season prior to that.
According to him, they were not his best seasons and shifting to Minnesota, he hopes to change all that.
"Last year wasn't the greatest year for me personally, but I'm looking forward to getting back there", Heatley said.
Danny Heatley, one of the top-ranked shooters in the NHL, will be a forefront player for Minnesota when the new season begins in October.
He still has three years left on his contract worth $19 million and hopes to benefit as much as possible during that time frame.
