Former Sri Lankan first-class cricketer, Norton Fredrick, dies at 73 – Cricket News Update

10, in his home in Wattala, following an incurable illness.
Born in 1937, Fredrick earned a colourful career, both, inside and outside the world of cricket. After his schooling, the Lankan went on to join the Statistics Investigation Establishment, following which he went on to serve for the Labour Department and
then as welfare officer to the Prison Department.
However, as a cricketer, Fredrick’s break came in 1964, after being selected to play for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-John-Goodchild-c52940opalan Trophy in Colombo. For the matter, the late cricketer once stated, “It was a very memorable baptism for me. The match was played at the Colombo Oval – Sara

The following year, Fredrick played for the All Ceylon team, before the country gained official Test status. The match came as an unofficial Test fixture against the Indian hosts in 1965, but turned out to be a real memorable one for Fredrick.

Apart from All Ceylon, Fredrick also served with the national clubs, Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club.
