Former St. Louis Cardinals’ manager Tony La Russa likely to join Detroit Tigers front office
Former St. Louis Cardinals ace and one of the most influential managers of Major League Baseball, Tony La Russa can be a healthy factor for the Detroit Tigers next season if he decides to join their franchise.
Some experts on baseball have already started their speculations in the media regarding star manager’s next destination as where he can once again build a team like the Cardinals.
The Cardinals were never favourites to grab this year’s World Series, but they went on to ruin their opponents during the whole competition. It was one man’s determination and confidence that injected impetus in the roster and eventually proved them to be
the true Champions, treating the Texas Rangers as just another team in the best of seven World Series encounter.
Cardinals defeated the Texas Rangers 4-3 and made their manager proud whom persistent efforts were a key factor as to why the Cardinals won this year’s title.
After winning the World Series, La Russa resigned from his position and as soon as he resigned, many other teams including the Detroit Tigers started to pursue him. His star studded calibre and managerial skills are all recognised in the Major League and
across the baseball world. However, his future commitments are still hidden as he did not speak officially regarding where he will be heading in the near future.
The speculations of his arrival in the Tigers front office are also floating in the media while the comments of current Detroit manager Jim Leyland boosted his chances ending up in Detroit.
Leyland spoke during a personal conversation with a renowned journalist on Friday and said after the reporter asked him a question that how he would think if La Russa decides to join the Tigers spring training session.
Leyland replied, “I'd love to have him come to spring training. Every team would benefit from having someone like Tony around. But? But he's probably got a lot of teams interested in him. I'm not saying that," said Leyland. "I'm saying that you'd benefit
from having him around but that he could draw interest from a lot of clubs.”
Though La Russa has not spoken officially in the media regarding his clear intentions for his future, but the next few days are very significant and people are waiting anxiously where he will be heading in the League.
