Former Texas Rangers owner Brad Corbett dies – MLB News
Former Texas Rangers owner Brad Corbett died at the age of 75. He owned the Rangers’ franchise from 1974 to 1980 and was known to switch managers on regular bases which also brought him much criticism from different walks of the field.
He died at Christmas Eve at his home where his daughter Pamela Corbett also spoke to reporters saying that Corbett, her father, died quite peacefully in his sleep on Monday. Corbett’s daughter also told the media that her father had no health issues at all
and had not been sick lately.
“Mr. Corbett was the Principal Owner of the Texas Rangers from May 29, 1974 to April 29, 1980. His tenure as owner was marked by a passion and drive to bring a winning team to the fans of North Texas. During his ownership, the Rangers produced their first
four winning seasons and finished second three times. Texas’ 94 victories in 1977 remained the most in team history until 1999,”
“The spirit in which Mr. Corbett served as Owner of the Rangers will be remembered always. The organization extends its deepest sympathies to his family and friends on his passing,” the team said in a statement for their former owner Brad Corbett, who was
very passionate about the Texas Rangers.
Meanwhile, the Texas Rangers’ entire roster is also sad that they have lost a very passionate individual, other than a former principle owner, who always supported the South Texas baseball franchise. Some say it is big loss for the Texas Rangers as Corbett
had big contribution in the Rangers’ new look offensive approach.
Apart from this great loss, the Rangers are quite confident going into the new season. They did good and productive changes in this offseason and feeling convinced that they have a very good chance coming season.
Texas Rangers’ assistant general manager Thad Levine has lately explained in the media that his team has a very good chance in 2013. Though the Rangers have signed some new players but still their flexible payroll allows them to sign some more potential
players in the next trade window.
