Former Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi feels optimistic about his return in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Former Toro Rosso driver, Sebastien Buemi is hoping to make his comeback in F1 in the 2013 season and is positively looking forward to the opportunities at hand.
Buemi and his teammate, Jaime Alguersuari were replaced by Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne in the sister concern of Red Bull Racing, Toro Rosso in the current season. Although, he is acting as a reserve driver for the defending champions at the moment,
however, he is expecting to secure a race seat for the next season and is nailing down his options.
Even though, he didn’t asserted any team’s name from where he has received an offer as he said that he will only provide the explanation when his contract will be ready. Nevertheless, he said that he is feeling optimistic about his future in the sport.
“To be the third driver for Red Bull is good,” he told Switzerland's 20 Minuten Online, “Red Bull is the number one team in Formula One and I have a foot in the door. This is important, but so too is returning [to a race seat] next year. There are options,
but I cannot tell you anything before the ink is dry on a contract. All I can say is that it looks good at the moment.”
In addition, it will be important to mention that he can hardly be considered as a potential replacement of Felipe Massa of Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton of McLaren. Furthermore, HRT seem quite contented with their drivers, Pedro de la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan
and are facing financial problems too.
Though, the vacancies can be predicted in Sauber and Force India for the next year. However, the Swiss driver has said that he wants to race with a slightly better team.
“Of course I want to race again, but these teams are just too far away from all the rest,” he pointed out.
Over and above, he said that Toro Rosso are not achieving the desired results while he insisted that he can certainly help them in attaining competitive points if they provide him with a chance in the next season.
