Tottenham Hotspur defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Nelsen-c31992 has joined Queens Park Rangers on a one year deal and revealed he was looking forward to the new season.
The 34-year-old will be moving to Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 on July after his contract with the Spurs comes to an end. Nelsen joined Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer in the winter transfer window of 2012 and was released by the London club at the end of the
season.
Having previously played at Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 under Mark Hughes, current Queens Park Rangers manager, for eight years, it comes as no surprise that his next destination is Loftus Road. He admitted it was his history with the manager that had him convinced
to join the London club.
Nelsen said in an interview:
“I have obviously got a lot of history with the manager and that was a massive draw for me.
I like his winning attitude. He and all his staff just have an absolute desire to win, and that's what the Premier League is all about.”
In addition to that, Nelsen was impressed with the manager’s attitude and the club’s ambitions in the English Premier League. He admitted he was looking forward to becoming a part of the team that had a certain buzz about them, going into the new season.
He revealed:
“The owners have got fantastic ambition and it's exciting to become a part of that. There's a real buzz about the place and it is a privilege to be here.
I have got the Olympics coming up and that will be a good way for me to get prepared.”
Nelsen, who will be representing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/New-Zealand-c754 in the Olympics, revealed he was looking for the games in London which would give him the perfect opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Mark Hughes was full of praise for the defender.
According to Hughes, Nelsen had the required experience to do well at Queens Park Rangers and help them in the Premier League.
Hughes said:
“Ryan has got great experience in the Premier League and that is something our squad is lacking a little bit at present.”
