Former WBA Champion David Haye still wants a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko – Boxing news
Former WBA world heavyweight champion David Haye is still looking for a rematch against the WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO and Ring Magazine’s unified heavyweight champion of the world, Wladimir Klitschko.
The Hayemaker, Haye, who lost his World Boxing Association’s title to Dr. Steelhammer, Wladimir Klitschko in a unification bout for the heavyweight titles via unanimous points’ decision on July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg’s Football Stadium in Germany, was refused
by Wladimir but the 30-year-old brash Londoner desperately wants to avenge his defeat.
The Haye-Wladimir fight was one of the biggest fights in the British history and was carried out in front of a crowd of over 60,000 people.
Therefore Haye, who has won 25 of his 27 professional fights including 23 by the way of a knockout, reckons Wladimir will ponder over his decision, as Haye thinks he has brought Wladimir his biggest payday as of yet.
“Hopefully, Wlad looks at the numbers,” Haye said. “There’s no one out there for him. Look at the sums. It makes economic sense. The ball is in his court.”
David Haye has no more plans to box after getting 31 and that is why he wants Wladimir to give him a final answer.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I have three and a half months left in boxing. Whether Wlad would want to do it again is another thing. Because he now has the titles, the contract would be difficult. It might seem trivial to you, but the Klitschkos
are hard to deal with.”
Wladimir Klitschko’s manager, Bernard Boente, however has different plans as he wants Haye to take on Dr. Ironfist, Vitali Klitschko.
“I know Haye intends to retire in October, but the fight we would like to see is Vitali Klitschko against David Haye,” Boente said.
Let’s see whether David Haye will get a chance to avenge his fight with Wladimir Klitschko or not because if he gets one, it will certainly be an explosive fight.
