Former WBC champion Chad Dawson beats Adrian Diaconu – World boxing news
The American boxer and the former World Boxing Council, International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organisation light heavyweight champion, Chad Dawson showed his class by defeating Adrian Diaconu in their competitive bout on Saturday, May
21, 2011.
Dawson faced the first ever loss of his career in his last fight against Jean Pascal on August 14, 2010 at Montreal, Quebec, Canada. However, he has now made amends on same stage of Montreal in Quebec.
The victory is a proof of Dawson’s hard work and commitment to the sport and shows how much he has improved under the kind and useful guidelines of his new Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward.
Dawson has increased his chances to go for a championship bout with this win over Diaconu.
Dawson will be face to face in a mandatory shot with Bernard Hopkins very soon. Hopkins won his bout against Pascal in their rematch last Saturday.
Talking about the Pascal vs. Hopkins showdown before the competition, Dawson commented that it is going to be an exciting fight between the two and that he is not scared.
Dawson after losing a technical decision to Pascal decided to go with Steward and ended his relationship with trainer Eddie Mustafa Muhammad to fix the problems.
Steward has performed his duties as a trainer for Floyd Mayweather Sr., John Scully and Dan Birmingham previously.
Dawson said, “I've been with Emanuel for the past 7-8 weeks, and it takes time to get used to a new trainer. I knew I won the fight. I out threw him and out landed him. I wasn't nervous at all about coming to his hometown.”
The Romanian, Diaconu, who is currently the residential of Montreal, has faced a couple of losses fighting against Pascal.
Dawson performed his level best fighting against Diaconu on Saturday night. Dawson is taller, longer and quicker than Diaconu.
Diaconu was hit by a left hand in the second round and with a right hook towards the end of the fifth round by Dawson.
Dawson will be very happy to win that competitive bout against the Diaconu. However, Diaconu’s fans will be sorely disappointed to see their star losing the bout.
