Former WWE Super Star Batista to make debut in MMA bout in May 2011
There is good news for Batista fans, he is coming back. This time he is not going to be in a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) ring but rather in the octagon. Batista will have his first Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight in May 2011.
MMA is attracting numerous athletes from different sports from around the globe. Several former boxers, football players and wrestlers have recently joined MMA leagues with some success.
During his career in the WWE, Batista had to face some unprofessional circumstances backstage. He and Booker T had major problems with each other. He was also rumoured to have used excessive amount of steroids. This coupled with his desire to take on a new
challenge prompted Batista to leave his stellar career at WWE.
Batista seems to be taking a page from the playbooks of former WWE superstars, Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. Lesnar has done very well in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and has even taken the heavy weight championship belt twice. Lashley has
also made his mark in the MMA and is doing an excellent job. Former WWE superstar Ken Shamrock is also a member of MMA.
Shamrock is scheduled to face Batista for his debut match. Shamrock is an experienced MMA fighter but the match is worth-seeing because Batista is also a solid athlete. Even though the style of fighting is different in the MMA, athletic wrestlers like Batista
can do well there. Batista has been training hard with professional coaches to achieve his goal and may end up doing well.
Batista, whose real name is David Michael Bautista Jr., is an American wrestler who used to be a body builder before becoming a wrestler. The 41-year-old lives and trains in Los Angeles, California. Batista bounced around from place to place before he ended
up in the WWE. This is where he first tasted stardom. He worked up the ranks and has been the heavy weight champ before he retired from the sport.
The six feet, six inch wrestler weighs one hundred and forty kilograms and is known to his fans as ‘the Animal’. This moniker was given to him because of his unique wrestling style. After joining WWE, he has achieved ten world titles. He was the World Heavyweight
Champion four times and became the WWE champion twice. Batista also remained the WWE Tag Team Champion along with Rey Mysterio. He was the winner of the World Tag Team Championship thrice and the Royal Rumble of 2005 is under his name as well. His finishing
moves like the Batista Bomb and the Batista Bite are popular among his fans.
Many critics do not expect the aging Batista to do well fighting younger, faster and stronger fighters. Never the less, Batista has proven his critics wrong before and is aiming to do the same again in May.
