Former Welsh international Jonathan Davies wants a more clinical Welsh attack
Former Welsh international Jonathan Davies believes that Wales has to take their opportunities and score tries, if they are to improve on their poor Autumn International Series.
Wales failed to win any of their Tests in November and they have not won a game in seven matches.
However, apart from their 16-16 draw with Fiji, the team has looked impressive during the Autumn Internationals.
They were defeated 25-16 by Australia and they should have beaten South Africa, but a stunning come-back by the Springboks allowed the South Africans to record a 29-25 win. Wales also played well in their 37-25 defeat to the All Blacks.
Davies admitted they had to take their opportunities if they were going to impress in the Six Nations and the World Cup. Davies told Scrum V, "We're creating a little bit, but if the opportunities are there, we have to take them. We need to get a win soon
because then confidence will grow. We're playing well, but not winning."
The television pundit stated that the first game of the Six Nations was now crucial for Wales. They take on England at the Millennium Stadium on Friday 4 February.
"The first game is going to be massive. Whoever wins that will think they've got a chance of winning [the Six Nations title] or even getting the Grand Slam because it's such a big game. We've got the players, maybe not the strength in depth that we thought
we had, but the front five looked solid and we have a bit of balance in the back row depending on who he [Gatland] picks,” said Davies.
Davies insisted the Welsh team were capable of doing well in the Six Nations if they can develop a clinical streak when they attack and vary their play with good runs. “They just need to finish off the tries. That's all they need to do is run angles, run
angles and give good support play and we can beat anyone in the Six Nations," he said.
