Former Wigan Warrior Eamon O'Carroll explains his move to Hull FC- Rugby League
While talking to media reporters on Friday, December 2, Eamon O'Carroll shared that he turned down Wigan Warriors latest offer and instead committed his future to Hull FC for three years.
However, the decision was not as easy as it may appear to be because both clubs are equally renowned. The fact that he had to part ways with Wigans after playing almost 80 games with them made it even harder for him to choose sides.
While speaking about his preferences over his newly signed contract, the 24-year-old player said, "It was one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make to leave Wigan. I had a contract on the table but I just thought it was time to move on. I
think it's one of the best decisions I've ever made - I'm really settled and can't wait for the season to start."
O'Carroll sustained a career threatening injury which sat him out of the major campaigns of 2011 season. However, the prop has managed to play a few games of the 2011 season with Wigans after recovering from his injury-prone stint.
While talking about his severe injury, the Irish international said, "I had a pubic bone and hip injury that we couldn't really settle down and it got to the point where they were thinking I needed a year out.”
He went on and said that Wigans helped him out of his troubled hip bone, by finding one of the best surgeons available, who assured that he could treat 70% of the injury inflicted.
The former Wigan’s prop recalled that his surgery really took him day by day to recover fully.
Now that he is fit again to begin his career afresh at KC Stadium, he is looking forward to the next year with a new cub.
This is the very first time that O'Carroll will play for another club, which will prove healthy for his career growth. He is the product of Wigan Academy, where he got enrolled in 2002 and was taken up by Warriors to fill in as prop in 2005 and 2006
season. Since then, he has played for the club. Now he feels that the timing is just right for him to add variation to his playing profile.
