Former World Champion, Randy Orton drops position from third to fifth in WWE Rankings
As per rankings by the Academy of Wrestling Arts and Science, the former World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton dropped down from third to fifth place in the WWE Rankings for the week of July 24 to July 30.
AWAS updated The Viper, Randy Orton’s place on the base of Friday Night SmackDown segment that was conducted on July 29. This Friday, the new Chief Operating Officer announced that The Viper would face The World Champion, Christian in a “No Holds Barred
Match” at SummerSlam next month. Moreover, R-Truth also attended Friday Night SmackDown and interrupted The COO. Due to that misconduct, the COO put R-Truth into the fight against the former World Champion, Randy Orton.
The fight between The Viper and R-Truth was the main event of WWE and it took place at the end of the Friday Night SmackDown segment. During the fight, Captain Charisma also confronted his “SummerSlam” opponent and it caused a distraction of the referee.
R-Truth took the advantage and assaulted The Viper with the bottle of water that made Orton angry. He took the steel chair and started beating R-Truth.
In this way, The Viper was disqualified and lost the fight. The match loss caused his place in the Power 25 to lower to fifth from third. The Viper did not finish there as he hit the RKO on R-Truth twice on the announce table. He also hit R-Truth’s head
with monitor at announce table. The former World Champion, sent a strong message to his opponent, Christian by bashing R-Truth with RKOs and steel chairs during Friday Night SmackDown.
The Viper secured third place for the last two weekends. Orton lost his World Championship to Christian during last week at “Money in the Bank” on July 17. Furthermore, The Viper was signed in a fight against the Big Red Monster, Kane. Orton defeated Kane
by hitting the RKO. Afterwards, Mark Henry came out and attacked Kane. He injured Kane’s ankle by hitting him with a steel chair.
