Former champion Nigel Mansell says Jenson Button more mature than Lewis Hamilton – Formula 1 news
Former Formula 1 driver Nigel Mansell has stated that the 2008 Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton should learn some maturity from his teammate Jenson Button.
Mansell added that Button, the 2009 Formula 1 champion, is in the same team with Hamilton but has a little bit more maturity.
He said, “Both Lewis and Jenson were both great world champions at the time and it's absolutely fantastic to have them both in the same team but Jenson, for me, carries with him just that little bit more maturity.”
The former champion also added that Hamilton is a world champion and he should act like one as he shows immaturity every now and then. Mansell also stated that after a crash in Monaco, Hamilton’s comments were more disturbing for him and the Brit should
cool himself down.
“Lewis is not mature and he's not got a head on him. I thought his driving style was very poor because he had no respect for anyone else because where is anyone going to go? He's got to remember that he has been a world champion so he should act accordingly
and appropriately at all times,” commented Mansell.
Mansell added that overtaking in Monaco is not as difficult as advertised as he himself did a couple of times coming out of the tunnel. The former champion added that Hamilton’s driving was dangerous for himself and other drivers in Monaco as he was unable
to show some respect to any of them.
Lewis Hamilton was responsible for more than one disqualification in Monaco as he eliminated Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Williams Pastor Maldonado in the race.
Hamilton kept on his charge until he became the victim himself when in Montreal he tried an outlandish move on his teammate Button and ended his race after damaging his car in the process.
Nevertheless, Mansell is one of the few critics of Hamilton but it will be interesting to see how the Brit reacts in the upcoming race in Germany.
