Former cricketers and fans come out in support of Sourav Ganguly
Cricket fans in India and former cricketers have expressed excitement on the return of former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly to the fourth season of Indian Premier League (IPL). The left hander is set to represent Pune Warriors in the ongoing season of the
lucrative league.
Ganguly was an integral part of Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous three editions of IPL and was the first captain of the popular franchise as well. However, Shahrukh Khan and company decided not to retain the Prince of Kolkata in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders’ squad
for the current season.
Former Indian wicketkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Syed-Saba-Karim-c92363 is one of those who have come out in support of Ganguly and said that former Indian captain is a fighter and he loves to take on challenges. Karim went on to say that Sourav does not have anything to prove as he
has been a world class batsman for India and has proved his class many times in international cricket as well as at domestic level.
However, Karim feels that IPL has a tiring schedule and it involves a lot of traveling, which might turn out to be little tough for Ganguly, who is 38 at the moment.
Karim said while speaking to reporters, "The Sourav I have known loves challenges. He will only focus on his game. He does not have to prove anything. He has done it so many times with Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and IPL in previous editions. His contemporaries are doing
well and I think he is fit enough. IPL demands more intensity, a lot of travelling and a hectic schedule, those will be his challenges."
Another former Indian cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arun-Lal-c1086 also supported Ganguly and expressed his excitement on watching the left hander play once again. Arun predicted that Ganguly would be very useful for the Warriors considering the fact that their youngsters have not
performed in the league so far.
"I am very very happy for Ganguly. He won't disturb the balance of the foreign players. With the Pandeys and Mithuns not doing well for the team, I am sure Ganguly will do a better job," Lal said.
Pune Warriors are currently struggling in the IPL and their fans would be hoping that the Prince of Kolkata can make a difference.
