Former cricketers hauled inclusion of debutants in Lord’s squad

Pakistan selectors have decided to award two youngsters, Umar Amin and Azhar Ali, with test caps in the Lord’s test. Qasim Iqbal, Pakistan’s former test spinner said that the management should appreciate the young players even if they fail to perform as it would boost up their confidence.

“Even if the young players not perform in the match, their inclusion in the team is appreciable. It is very important to give a chance to the young players in order to give boost their confidence,” said the former Test spinner while taking to media reporters.

However at the same time Qasim has asked the seniors to play responsible innings. He added that the inclusion of youngsters would put some extra responsibility over the senior cricketers and some responsible performances would be required from the openers Imran Farhat and Salman Butt. Qasim said that if the opening stand managed to put a good start on before the two youngster’s Umar Amin and Azhar Ali come on the crease to face the Australian attack in their test debuts. The former spinner said that a decent opening stand would reduce the pressure on new comers.

While talking about the bowling department of Pakistan, Qasim said that the bowlers are capable of restricting the Ponting’s batting line-up at any stage in the match. He said that he is not sure about how Pakistan’s batting line would respond to the Australian attack as the conditions of tracks in England are not batsman friendly.

Another former test cricketer of Pakistan, Sarfaraz Nawaz has also appreciated the inclusion of youngsters in the side. He said that the young talent is amazing and they should be given international exposure against big teams. He said that his inclusion in the Test squad has lop-sided the team.

“To accommodate him in the Test side, Saeed Ajmal has been rested. Saeed holds an important place in the Test squad,” said the former fast bowler.

He warned the Pakistani players of a strong opposition from Australian side during the test series. He said that the side should not be taken away by the recent T20 series win, as the Test series would be a real test of their form and talent.

“There is no comparison between Tests and T20 and the players should be ready for a tough encounter against the Australians”.

Sarfaraz was confident of the bowlers and said that they could be expected to do well at Lord’s but was not sure of the batting line-up of Pakistan and said that the batting would be tested in the real sense during the test series.
