Former fitness coach Alex Ariza to meet Amir Khan outside the ring
The management team of the Bolton star, Amir Khan, have been requested to organise a meeting in order to restore Khan's former strength and conditioning coach, Alex Ariza. Alex Ariza was dismissed
during Khan’s third World Boxing Association’s (WBA) Light Welterweight defence against Marcos Maidana in December.
The Greater Manchester has been invited by the Boxing Writers Association of America to participate in the biggest event of awards ceremony in Nevada. Khan arrived in Nevada on Thursday, where he
will be honoured as being the ‘Fight of the Year’ contestant. His fight against Maidana has been picked as Fight of the Year because of the thrilling contest between the two rivals. The fighters were face to face on 11th December, 2010 at Mandalay
Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas.
It was shocking news for the Bolton fans to hear about Ariza's removal from Khan's management. The morning after his fight against the Argentinean star Maidana, Khan mentioned that he was worried
about his fitness issues. Public war of words started between the Khan and Ariza following that statement.
Ariza has been the head conditioning trainer of Freddie Roach and performed his duties for the Filipino pride, Manny Pacquiao. Amir Khan and Ariza are to meet on Friday, May 13 to reach an agreement
between them. Khan’s trainer, Roach has been requested to act as peacemaker for further clarifications.
“Amir did not look himself against Paul McCloskey [last month in Manchester]. It was his first time since Amir came to me that he had not worked with Alex. I wasn’t really that satisfied with the
McCloskey fight,” said Roach.
It was expected that Khan’s next possible fight will be against opponent Timothy Bradley in July but the terms could not be finalized because of financial disagreement between the parties. The chances
of the fight being cancelled have increased because of the American's management team’s negligence. He has failed to meet the deadlines set by Golden Boy Promotions, the key US authority that handles Khan’s fights.
