Former player Murray Costello to be honoured by Wayne Gretzky award by USA Hockey
Former Canadian ice hockey player and person who did so much for the sport of the ice hockey, Murray Costello would be presented and honoured with Wayne Gretzky award on 15th October next month, in a ceremony of hall of famers.
Costello was inducted into hall of fame in 2005 as his a manager, president and made several other contributions for ice hockey, including his performances as a player with different National Hockey League (NHL) teams.
This award is actually meant for the people who have made contributions and served hockey in United States of America (USA). And the award has been given to many great players of the past, including Gretzky, Howe, Scotty Bowman, Bobby Hull and Scotty Morrison.
President of USA Hockey, Ron DeGregorio praised Costello and had only good things to say about him as he appreciated the efforts and contributions of him for the game. Ron also praised the fact that during Costello’s he spread the awareness of International
Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and done so much for all the players, coaches etc, as he said,

with the spread of knowledge and ideas that can positively impact American administrators, coaches and players of all ages."
78-year-old Costello is former President of Canadian Amateur Hockey Federation from 1979 to 1998 and during his time hosted so many international competitions for the good of Canadian people so that they can watch top quality action.
He featured in 163 NHL games, making appearances for three different teams, including Chicago Blackhawks, Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings.
During hall of fame induction speech seven years back, Costello had talked about amateur hockey and had appreciated the efforts for all the people working for it, as he said,
"I can tell you that I understand that this is recognition of the amateur side of the game and for the many thousands of volunteers who continue to make it happen year after year across Canada.”
