Former world champion Cliff Thorburn having a ball on the Snooker Legends Tour – Snooker news
1980 World Snooker Champion Cliff Thorburn admitted he is having a lot of fun on the Snooker Legends Tour, which is now heading towards Brighton Centre this Sunday on June 19, 2011.
The legendary Canadian snooker player Thorburn told the media he is enjoying the Snooker Legends Tour a lot, as it was an honour to perform in front of the people once again.
The Grinder, Thorburn, added he is not participating only to win as he believes sometimes winning is not everything one needs to have.
While speaking on his inclusion, he commented, “I must admit, it’s a lot of fun. There is certainly a pride in performing but winning isn’t the only thing. Actually, it’s slightly a Jimmy White love-in.”
The 63-year-old, Thorburn, who was once the world’s number one snooker player, also discussed his game. He said he is not playing like he used to before so even if he loses, he will not have any regrets. He revealed now he only practises to keep a bit of
quality in his game.
Thorburn in the end commented on the King of Crucible, Stephen Hendry, who is now 42 years old. He said he still practises five or six hours a day before any tournament but in his case there was nothing like that.
“I certainly don’t play as much as I used to. I certainly don’t practice as much. The greatest player that has ever played, Stephen Hendry, would still practice five or six hours a day for a month before the world championships. So I suppose you do lose
something if you are not playing all the time. But I like to think my practice is all about the quality now!” Cliff remarked.
The other legendary snooker players who will be joining the Canadian national hero Thorburn on the Snooker Legends tour are Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor and John Parrott. Meanwhile, Michaela Tabb and legendary commentator John Virgo will also be there to fascinate
the audience.
