  2. Don't know why the 7 is in the question but there was a condition called a " stymie" where the opponents ball sat where it was and the player had to play around it or over it. This was taken out of the rules in the late 1930's. The rule was changed so that the one playing the shot had control of the opponent's ball . Now , each player has control of his own ball.
