Formidable lineup confirmed for Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012
The Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 is going to kick off from October 11 at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, with a strong line-up featuring almost all the big stars on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association)
Tour.
Some of the key contenders confirmed to tee off from October 11 include current world number one Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer, Stacy Lewis, Cristie Kerr and defending champion Na Yeon Choi.
Despite having a fearsome line-up, the spotlight will likely remain on a few contenders.
Na Yeon Choi, who won the 2011 edition of the tournament in a resounding fashion, is eyeing the title this year too — and she appears to be in a stronger position than most of the other contenders in the roster.
Speaking to the media about her aims, Choi said that winning the last edition was a great success, and she is certainly going to capitalise on that experience once again. She said that she is confident to make
a good start this time as she has played the course before.
“Having won the title last year, the tournament has a special place in my heart, so I'm really looking forward to getting back onto the course again at KLGCC,” the South Korean golfer said.
Choi said the last-year victory is not the only thing that has boosted her interest in this tournament, but a solid field featuring big names also makes her want to do her best next month.
Yani Tseng, who was the runner-up at the 2011 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, is going to put her skills to the test once again. Tseng got into a nerve-jangling battle against Choi in the final round at the last
year’s edition, but lost the match by one stroke.
Tseng expressed her desire to do her best at the upcoming event, saying she is fully prepared to face rivals.
“I'm looking forward to getting back to the KLGCC. I finished one shot behind Na Yeon last year after a pretty tense fourth round so will see what I can do this year. It'll be good to be back playing in Asia
– the fans are great and can usually rely on some good support in Malaysia,” Tseng said.
