Forming a petittion?

i want to start a petition to send to my state representatives. What should i do to legitimizee this and make it more official? also what are the laws concerning petitioning?

Its been my experience that petitions rarely work.

Look at the Drill HERE , Drill NOW intitiative. That petition basically fell through the cracks and the democrats in congress have been opposing any drilling. They've sited many reasons, but the reasons are smoke and mirrors for the most part, they just do'nt care about doing the will and work for the American people.

Meanwhile, when all of America stood up and shut down the capital over the Amnesty issue, they finally woke up and figured out that this was something that pissed too many people off.

I fear that is the only real way to get our representatives attention anymore.

The are set forth in the constitution of each state. California must be the most liberal in allowing referendum votes.  Some states bar the practice completely.
