You hold plane mirror 0.50m in front of your eyes. The mirror is 0.32cm high, and in it you see a image of a tall building behind you.

a. If the building is 95m behind you, what vertical height of the building, h can be seen in the mirror at any one time?

  1. Are you sure the mirror is not 0.32 m. high? 0.32 cm. is extremely small.

    If 0.32 m. is the height of the mirror, the height x of the building which can be seen satisfies:

    95.5 / 0.5 = x / 0.32

    x = 61.1 m.

    If 0.32 cm. is correct, then the height visible is 61.1 cm.
