Formula 1: Ferrari to reveal new car in February
Team Ferrari had a brilliant 2010 as Fernando Alonso finished the drivers’ championship in the second place, just 4 points behind the champion Sebastian Vettel.
Alonso led the standings until the last race in Abu Dhabi at the Yas Marina circuit. Unfortunately, the two-time champion was stuck behind Vitaly Petrov’s Renault in 7th place that hampered his championship bid.
Nevertheless, the team finished in 3rd place in the constructors’ standings because of the fact that Felipe Massa was unable to perform up to the mark. As a result, Ferrari were unable to challenge McLaren and Red Bull for the top two spots.
Since the 2010 Formula 1 season ended, it seems that Fernando Alonso and the team have been extremely focused about the 2011 season. The team recently said that they would reveal their 2011 Formula 1 car a week before the pre-season test sessions that are
expected to begin on 1 February 2011.
However, Ferrari have not given an exact date for their car launch. It seems that the team will continue its tradition of launching its car in Maranello rather than revealing it at the first test session like other teams.
The new Ferrari chassis passed a couple of crash tests few days ago which was the main concern of the team. But since that problem is out of the way, it seems that the team can now focus on their car more freely and continue their experimentation.
Both of the drivers have been helping the team out in this whole process and it is expected that Massa and Alonso will take part in their first media event of the New Year called “Wroom” in a few days. The event will take place in the Italian Dolomites.
It would be interesting to see what the team comes up with for the 2011 Formula 1 season as they aim to win the title.
