Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton getting ready for 2011 season
2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton was quite clearly one of the best drivers of the 2010 Formula 1 season as he finished in fourth place just 14 points behind the champion Sebastian Vettel.
Lewis was actively running for the title until the very last race of the season at Abu Dhabi but all odds were against him and as a result, the two McLaren drivers were unable to secure either of the two titles.
Even though McLaren was leading both drivers’ and constructors’ standings until the second half of the season, it seemed that the MP4-25 was not the best car on most of the Asian tracks. On the other hand, the car proved to be very competitive on the European
tracks.
Since the end of the 2010 Formula 1 season, most of the teams are now actively working on their new cars and it was recently revealed that both of the McLaren drivers are done with the seat-fittings for the MP4-26.
However, after a disappointing end to the 2010 season, it seems that Lewis Hamilton is working as hard as he can these days in order to ensure that he is in his best shape for the upcoming season. Despite the extremely cold weather, Hamilton has been ski
hiking for two hours followed by a two-hour gym session in the afternoons.
McLaren vows to launch their car’s specifications before the pre-season test sessions that are expected to take place in February 2011.
Both of the drivers have been working very hard on the team’s 2011 chassis and it seems that the team is quite confident about the upcoming season.
“We’re all working as hard as we can to make MP4-26 a world-beater when it’s launched early next year,” the team stated online.
Since “Kinetic Energy Recovery System” is going to be in use once again next season, it would be interesting to see how the team designs their car since KERS increases the weight of the car vitally. An adjustable rear-wing will also be allowed.
Keeping in mind these major rule changes, McLaren’s engineers and particularly Hamilton are excited about the 2011 Formula 1 season.
