Lewis Hamilton of McLaren clinched victory in the second practice session at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit on Friday, just a second ahead of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel.
Top title contender, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, finished at number three after leading the practice session for more than half an hour.
Red Bull enjoyed success after its second driver, Mark Webber finished fourth in the final standings of the practice session.
All the four title contenders showed great speed under lights at the Yas Marina circuit but there is not much to choose between them.
Robert Kubica of Renault finished marginally behind Webber’s Red Bull while Ferrari’s second driver, Felipe Massa came in at number six.
Given the intense competition, it will be interesting to see how the teams perform in the third practice session before the final race of the season on Sunday.
