Formula 1: Nico Hulkenberg not to feature in 2011 season as race driver
Recently, Force India revealed their drivers’ line-up for the 2011 Formula 1 season and confirmed that Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta will be their full season drivers.
They have dismissed Tonio Liuzzi from the team despite the fact that he had a contract with the team until the end of 2011 season. Other than that, it was announced that Nico Hulkenberg will feature as their third driver in the season.
Paul di Resta is a very good driver and the team praised his driving abilities a lot even in 2010 when he was a part of Force India as their test/reserve driver. Paul was able to defeat Sebastian Vettel in the F3 series and the team believes that he has
a lot of potential and he has the spark to produce amazing results if he is provided with a good car.
However, it seems that one of the most talented and underrated drivers in Formula 1 Nico Hulkenberg is not going to get a full season seat with any of the teams after all and will have to feature as a third drive for Force India.
Nico was a part of Team Williams but the team decided to replace him with Pastor Maldonado, the GP2 champion for the 2011 Formula 1 season despite the fact that he scored an amazing pole position at a dry Brazilian Grand Prix even though he did not have
a strong car. He was able to score a time that was almost a second faster than the rest of the top running drivers including Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso.
Many believe that the team signed Pastor since he was bringing a major sponsor from Venezuela with him for the team. Since the team is going through a major financial crisis, one cannot blame them for making this decision but Nico had to suffer as a result
which is quite disappointing.
However, it is expected that the young German driver might find a full season seat with a good team in 2012 and prove his worth to the teams once again.
