Formula 1: Red Bull Racing dedicated to reveal car in Valencia
Red Bull Racing proved it in 2010 that they not only have the ability to compete against the top teams, but also to beat them.
The team secured a car that was clearly the best one on the Formula 1 grid throughout the year and most of all, it was consistent at every track. As a result, the team won the 2010 drivers’ and constructors’ titles and now they hope to defend their title
in 2011.
Red Bull Racing Team recently revealed that the team will reveal its car at the first pre-season test session on 1
February 2011 in Valencia along with other teams like Sauber and Ferrari. However, one of their main rivals, McLaren stated that they will reveal their car on 4 February.
McLaren and Force India have already revealed that they will not bring their 2011 cars to the first test and will run interim versions of their 2010 chassis instead. Red Bull have skipped the first test altogether in recent years in favour of more time in
the wind tunnel, but team consultant Helmut Marko has revealed they are making a concerted effort to be there this time.
“We are going right to the limit in the build-time of the new car. We will need every minute until February 1 in Valencia,” Marko told the media.
The team’s 2010 car enabled the drivers to secure 15 pole positions in 19 races and that clearly means they had the fastest car on the grid by a mile. According to Marko, the team will top their 2010 car in 2011 and bring a new “evolution” in Formula 1.
“What I have seen of the car so far makes me optimistic. Last year Sebastian lost 66 points because of technical defects and we gave almost all of them to Fernando Alonso. If we can get rid of the bad luck and mistakes of this year, we will defend the title,”
he said.
It is believed that until Red Bull has a mastermind like Adrian Newey by their side, they are unstoppable.
“Ferrari has made massive efforts to get our people. But everyone has stayed in the boat. This is important, because we have a unique spirit in the team and I get the feeling Ferrari wants to have it,” Marko added.
