Formula 1 Red Bull team lands in Austria to celebrate its Grand Prix win
Red Bull’s Formula 1 racing team feted its victory this week in Salzburg by taking some time off to relax after their Grand Prix success on Sunday. The Red Bull team has a lot to celebrate this season, having ridden their wave of victory all the way to the
Grand Prix. The team, which is in its sixth season at Formula 1, also took away the drivers and constructors championship.
When the team's 2010’s Grand Prix Champion, Sebastian Vettel arrived in Austria from Abu Dhabi, fans greeted him at the airport, where he debarked along with his team-mate, former Grand Prix winner Mark Webber, the team’s Principal Christian Horner and technical
officer Adrian Newey.
Vettel told the Formula 1 official website that despite the many trials and difficult runs over the course of the season, he has learned a lot from the experience. He said that he will never forget the many high points of the year, and that he has learned
much in his time racing with the Red Bull team.
"I am very proud of what we have achieved, it’s a great moment for me and the whole team,” Vettel said of his Sunday win at Yas Marina. Vettel told the F1 site that he is looking forward to taking some time off, and having the chance to get away from the
daily routine of the race. The break will be short-lived however, as he will soon have to focus his energies on defending his title in 2011.
Vettel has been with the Red Bull team a long time and says that he feels like a part of the family, “…everyone has fun and is dedicated to what they are doing; only when it’s like this is it possible to achieve at such a high level. Without the support
I received from the Red Bull Junior Programme, I would not be sitting here today as a world champion.”
While Webber had a less successful season than Vettel, he remained optimistic and congratulated his team-mate on his win. Although Webber and Vettel are rivals in their profession, Webber says that they respect each other, and share a friendship as team-mates.
Webber maintained that he did not achieve his objectives for the season, but he said that he was happy for the team and for Vettel. “It’s not always been easy for either of us during the year, but this is normal when you’re competing against each other at
this level,” he said of the dynamic between himself and Vettel.
Horner, who is F1’s youngest team principle, lauded his team’s victory over rivals like Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren. He told F1 that he plans to stay on top of its game next season, in order to make sure that Red Bull stays on top. “This is the next big
challenge for the whole team,” he said, asserting that keeping the Red Bull team in the top spot will require a dedication and focus.
