Formula 1: Robert Kubica’s first interview after the crash
The Renault driver, Robert Kubica spoke to the reporters for the first time on Friday, since his Sunday’s horrific crash.
Formula 1 world’s veteran journalist, Pino Allievi was the first media person allowed by the driver’s manager Daniele Morelli to interview the Polish driver. While talking to the reporter, the 26-year-old vowed to "come back stronger than before".
Kubica met a very unfortunate accident last week during a Rally race in Italy. The driver was flown to the hospital in a very critical condition, as he received multiple fractures in his leg and hip-bone, and had his right arm and hand completely crushed.
He spent the initial few days in deep coma to keep him from physical pain and mental stress.
However, after four critical nights in ICU, the driver was shifted to a general ward on Thursday. Earlier today it was reported that the driver was much stable now and had talked to his friends and family.
When the driver was asked about the incident, he plainly said, "I don't remember anything about the accident, but these things make you stronger.”
He further added that he feared that some part of his body was paralysed. On becoming conscious, this was the first question he asked his manager. However, the driver was much relieved and hopeful that he would be fine very soon. Kubica was visibly upbeat
and was happy he could move his fingers and arm. He believes that although a lot of hard work will be required, eventually the hand will be as healthy as before.
"I'll be stronger as a driver, in the head. I have to return this year. My right arm feels better now than when I was hit by a drunk seven years ago,"
He believes that the crash has brought him closer to a lot of people. “It was nice to see Briatore, an exceptional person... Then Alonso, Lopez, Petrov, Alesi, Liuzzi --- beautiful, the track never lets you see the true face of the people," Kubica proclaimed.
