Formula 1: Sebastian Vettel ‘stuck’ with Red Bull Racing?
It was believed that Red Bull champion Sebastian Vettel was confirmed with the team until the end of 2011 season but there is a ‘clause’ in his contract relating to 2012 which might not allow him to make a move anytime soon.
Red Bull published an article through a magazine recently which said that the contract clearly states, “If Vettel wins a prescribed number of races this year, and finishes the championship in the top three, he will be locked in for 2012.”
As a result, Sebastian will not be able to leave Red Bull at the end of 2011 and will have to remain a part of the team in 2012. Maybe it would be for the best since Red Bull Racing is quite clearly improving as each season passes and if a team is providing
him with a very good car, the young German would not have any reason to leave the team.
“There is an option based on the results. We will not just let a top driver go,” Red Bull's Helmut Marko confirmed.
The 2010 Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel recently stated that he “dreams” to be a part of a more “reliable” team like Ferrari or Mercedes. As a result, Ferrari’s boss Luca di Montezemolo responded that he would love to sign the young German with his
team soon.
But it seems that Vettel’s dream might not come true as soon as he thinks because of the ‘clause’ in his contract with Red Bull Racing.
Many believed that no one can stop Sebastian from signing with Ferrari in 2012 but now it seems that he is ‘stuck’ with Red Bull Racing.
Sebastian Vettel had an amazing 2010 Formula 1 season with the most pole positions and wins throughout the season and it seems that if he is provided with a good car in 2011, no one can stop him.
But one has to wonder, Sebastian Vettel might not perform as well as he did in 2010 after hearing this news because of the fact that he desperately wants to join a more ‘established’ team in 2012.
