Formula 1: Tonio Liuzzi shown the door at Force India?
It was recently revealed that Force India have signed Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta as their two full-season drivers for the 2011 Formula 1 season with Nico Hulkenberg as their reserve driver.
This meant that Tonio Liuzzi’s contract that was valid until the end of 2011 was probably terminated after some sort of consultation.
According to Tonio Liuzzi, the team has not even talked to him about this termination and it is quite unprofessional of them, if they have done so. Force India have not issued any statement regarding this matter which means that they are not denying these
speculations.
The delay of an official announcement has led to speculation that Force India is trying to come to an agreement with Liuzzi, but the 29-year-old Italian insists the situation has not changed since the end of last season.
He denied rumours that stated that his termination was because of monetary payments or even a seat with engine suppliers in the German Touring Car Championship. (DTM)
“I wasn't offered anything, as I said I haven't spoken to Force India about anything like that. By now, nothing can surprise me any more in Formula One. But so far I wasn't offered anything - neither money nor a seat in DTM, as I read elsewhere,” he insisted.
Liuzzi believes that these reports cannot be true since he already has a contract with the team until the end of 2011.
“They didn't tell me such things, for sure. I'm pretty calm, because I have a very clear deal with the team for the 2011 season and if they should decide to take other routes, they know what they are facing,” he added.
However, many believe that Liuzzi should be replaced since he was not able to cope up with his teammate Adrian Sutil in terms of pace and points in 2010.
