Formula 1 drivers to participate in charity football match at 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Formula 1
A UAE-based sports event management company has organised a charity football match in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council which is scheduled to take place on November 9, 2011 at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.
This is the first time ever that the Nazionale Piloti Football Match will be hosted in the UAE following its 30 years of success in other countries.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which is scheduled for November 13, 2011 will be witnessing the charity match that has specifically been organised before the raceday keeping in view the popularity of Formula 1 in the UAE and Middle East region.
“The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the ideal platform to host the first Pilots Football Charity Event in the Middle East as we celebrate our 30th anniversary,” said Mario di Natale, Founder and President of Nazionale Piloti. “Our success is due to the loving support
of fans, sponsors and players the world over who continue to help others achieve their dreams, and Abu Dhabi will be no different.”
It will be an amazing opportunity for the Formula 1 fans to see their favourite drivers in a face off against renowned football players of the UAE.
Formula 1 champions, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher will all be there to play for the Nazionale Piloti team. The match will not only provide a platform where the local players will get to mingle with the international stars but
also serve to generate charity.
The Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Mohamed E. Al Mahmood said, “It also provides us with a great platform to raise money for a local charity organization which we will announce soon.”
The match will be aired live on the Abu Dhabi Sports Channel and Rai Sports 2 in four different languages, Russian, Italian, Spanish and German and will be structured upon the standard rules of the game.
The match will be followed by a dinner at the Yas Links Golf Club in Yas Island Abu Dhabi in which the winning team will be given the Abu Dhabi Trophy.
