Formula 1 expected to be broadcasted in HD in 2011
It was recently revealed by Sky Deutschland that it will televise Formula 1 in true HD in 2011 as the organizers of the sport hope to increase the viewership of the sport.
Formula 1 is one of the most glamorous sports in the world and after the 2010 Formula 1 season, it is being considered as one of the most exhilarating sports of the decade as well. Sebastian Vettel secured the title at the very last race in Abu Dhabi just
4 points ahead of his top rival Fernando Alonso in the drivers’ standings.
Some of the Formula 1 venues like Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Bahrain are a spectacle of wonder. Fans throughout the world were eager to witness the sport and relied on their broadcasters to provide them with the minute details. However, to the misery of most
of the T.V viewers, and Formula 1’s 2010 season was not broadcasted in High Definition (HD).
However, the recent announcement of Sky Deutschland means that Formula 1 will be broadcasted in areas where HD is available and since Sky covers Germany, Austria and Switzerland, these countries will follow the sport in HD.
“This agreement is a late Christmas gift to our customers,” said Sky's sports Chief Carsten Schmidt.
Formula 1 experimented with HD and 3D cameras in 2010 but it seems that they were not satisfied with the result and decided not to broadcast it back then. Since Sky will be offer true HD to its customers compatible for HD-ready TVs and set-top boxes, it
is speculated that the rest of the broadcasters might do the same for their customers before the 2011 Formula 1 season begins.
BBC, while commenting on the matter said, “Further details about BBC plans for 2011 will be released in due course.”
It would definitely make Formula 1 more fun and precise as HD would obviously offer better quality and the viewers would get a chance to get an ultimate Formula 1 experience.
Since it is expected that the 2011 Formula 1 season is going to be even more exhilarating and dramatic than the 2010 season, broadcasting the sport in HD for its worldwide viewers is like a cherry on the top of cake for the Formula 1 fans in Europe.
