i don't understand why f1 cars are faster than overs. it doesn't prove any racing quality of the racers e.g. if you were to put button in a mclaren and hamilton in a red bull then button would probably win. what are your thoughts.

  1. not really....button may not have done as good job as hamilton..........button is an good driver......if both hamilton and button are put up in Mclaren than they both may finish wheel to wheel or maybe even button may win..........but f-1 isnt like tht..........button isnt pitted against just hami on the grid but the whole grid....thts what he finds difficult.....he really has an bad time fighting with the traffic.....he usually carshes out ...but drivers like hamilton,raikkonen..to name a few know how to fight with traffic and to come on top.....thts why kimi debuting with underperforming sauber got a drive in mclaren and then to ferrari top team to another top team.......but button....i dont know with whome he debuted but he really couldnt impress many with his drive at williams....cause he is 'inconsistent'...and thts wht hamilton isnt....am nt an fan of him but still he needs to get justice here ;-).......and u an see how drivers like massa have got crticism due to his inconsistent driving...and now kimi too i think is tryin to join the club.......and this was also the reason for DC's ouster frm McLaren ...so consistency is really imp..**.....

EDIT: A1 gp isnt wht u think......."the hardware supplied to every team is the same but the software is usually and can be tweaked by the teams"...hope u uncode it!!

  2. There's no such thing as equality in any form of racing.

    Take NASCAR for example.

There are some teams that are considered better than others.

So you can be competitive in one and uncompetitive in the other.

But since they run the same car that is not immediately obvious, it takes a very knowledgeable fan to appreciate that and then he never knows what 'uncompetitive' translates to in terms of performance.

In F1 we know a lot better how competitive a car is compared to the rest of the field and how fast a driver is.

What you usually don't know is if ta driver that has shown great speed in a "lesser" car has the spirit to perform at such high level when the chips are down.

Many times a driver performs at the highest level, is snatched up by one of the big teams and disappoints.

So Button would probably win but now that he doesn't he's widely acknowledged as one of the best drivers out there.

He may lose to Kovalainen for example but he's faster than Kovalainen and more experienced and mature.

There's no such thing as a true talent that goes unnoticed in F1, if you're fast it shows and you get your chance.

That alone is as fair as it can get.

  3. yes indeed. or if you put Force India drivers to McLaren or Ferrari cars and vice versa. I am absolutely sure that McLaren and Ferrari driven by Fisichella and Sutil will win and Force India with Hamilton or Raikkonen will be left behind and loose.

  4. fair is for T-ball

one could say the competition runs deeper in f1 than any other sport, for example, we know the drivers compete on track, and the mechanics compete in the pits, like any other form of racing, but that's where they stop, in f1 the aero dynamics guys compete with each other, the chassis designers compete with each other, the engine engineers compete, and until this years the software guys were competing with each other, which ends with a car that is decidedly better than the other guys ,

as opposed to nascar and irl where you order a car in  a box and hire a few mechanics to tune it (yes i know thats over simplified but you get the point)

  5. the driver has something to do with it as well ! ...

  6. I have similar thoughts.  I find A1GP or WTCC more exciting with a much more level technical playing field.  But then F1 is supposed to be a so-called 'No-holds-barred' type of racing as it try to differentiate from the others.  There are no more privateers in F1 which secures the celeb status for single seater racing.  It secures more viewership and does not limit itself to just motorheads.

  7. If teams have more money, they have better cars, therefore, better results.

  8. all formula 1 cars have the same CC  and V8 engines.as the rests its how they apply there skills and techiques and master there way of driving abilities.

  9. its just the way it goes its the same in

Football,Rugby,NBA and Moto Gp etc sports like that

its not unfair its what happens in life

  10. You've just got to think right...

Hamilton and Kovalainen are in the exact same car, but hamilton has won 3 races this year, and heikki has only just one his first ever race...

It shows that there is some skill involved and not just the car which produces results

  11. If you want to watch drivers in pretty much equal cars go watch GP2 or F3. This is not in the spirit of Formula 1.

Formula 1 is a team based sport. The drivers skill is obviously hugely important to suceed. But behind the scenes a lot goes on in terms of R+D, Engineering, management etc. A good team needs good money, but its not all about money - look at Toyota they're rich and now finally after 7 years there starting to get podiums.

Its about the competion between the manufacturers, who put there trust into there driver to take there creation and perform art with it. It can irratate people when huge gaps open up in races between Mclaren and Ferrari and everyone else. Thats understandable and we need to do what we can to make racing closer. That makes it more exciting. But its the spirit of the sport not to have drivers competing in equal cars. The cars must be a teams best effort to use there creativity and ability to give the driver something to win with.

  12. Certainly there are better cars and teams.  Schumacher could not have won in a Minardi.  But they always say, the best drivers end up in the best cars.
